Sonoma Valley Engineering Corporation is an experienced, local company specializing in providing professional engineering design, inspection and contract administrative services to Architects, Designers, Municipalities, Businesses and individual Property Owners.

Who We Are...

The firm is headed by Robert R. Garant, PE, who has compiled more than 35 years of diverse engineering and construction experience in numerous states and in 5 different countries.  His experience has included the structural design of high-rise buildings, industrial complexes, municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities and an array of other structure types. 

His background in civil engineering includes the master design of entire water distribution and wastewater collection systems and the hydrologic design of numerous drainage basin and storm water collection systems. 

Mr. Garant holds Professional Engineering licenses in 5 different states, including California, and is certified nationally as a Structural Engineer by the “Structural Engineering Certification Board”.  Particulars of his credentials are listed below under “Qualifications”

Our Clients...

Sonoma Valley Engineering offers on-going service arrangements with design professionals, such as Architects and Professional Home Designers but also provides structural and drainage calculations on a one-time basis to Businesses, Contractors and individual Property Owners building the smallest of projects.  In addition to private clients, we offer professional engineering design and representation to the various municipal governments in the Valley.

Our Services Include....

Structural Design

The firm provides a full array of structural engineering services, including computerized analysis, AutoCAD drawing preparation, specification writing and field inspection.  The office is equipped with the latest in “finite element” structural design software, as well as, numerous programs for quickly and safely creating efficient designs for our clients.  

Special Structural Inspections

For local projects that we have not designed, Sonoma Valley Engineering Corporation can perform  “Special Structural Inspections” as now required by the recently adopted California Building Code for many construction processes.  Our inspections offer a quick and economical solution to the need for an engineering inspection without having to wait days for an out- of-town inspector who may charge many hours of travel time for an inspection that may take a few minutes to perform.

Construction Administration

With decades of practical experience in permitting, bidding and supervising construction, Sonoma Valley Engineering can offer the Architect, Designer or Owner an alternative to the sometimes laborious and frustrating process of administering modern construction.  Our construction services include:

• Permit Submittal and Processing
